DAISEY'S ISLAND CRUISES
Frequently Asked Questions
We have a lot of options for cruises. here are some of the most frequently asked. Please feel free to call us if there is any question you may have listed or not.
01
How long do the tours last?
Our typical tours run 2 hours. However, run time is approximate. We do not recommend making any plans directly following the tour. We don't want you late for dinner.
02
Are we guarenteed to see ponies?
We do our best to get up close to the ponies. We know where they like to graze and have very good odds of getting up close to them. However, they are wild animals and as such will not always be up close. Sometimes you will need binoculars to see them. Very rarely maybe 1% of the time they just are not anywhere to be seen and about 5% they are only seen from far a distance.
03
What are the best times of day to see the ponies?
The Chincoteague ponies are wild. There is no better or worse time to see them. Sometimes they will go for an early morning swim and sometimes they graze in the middle of the field. If you can figure out the ryme and reason to when they will be out let us know.
04
Do you take tours in the winter?
We run year round. In the winter you will see the ponies in a whole new way. They have thick winter coats. Seeing the ponies in the snow and ice is a truely unigue and beautiful experience. Mind you it is cold to be on the boat so bundle up like you are going skiing.
05
What happens with inclement weather?
We ask that you show up for the scheduled boat tour unless we have called you ahead of time to cancel. A lot of storms that come through here blow through quickly. Sometimes we will just depart late. If we feel like there may be a safety concern do to the severity of the storm we will offer a full refund or reschedule with you.
06
Is there a cancelation period or charge?
We have a 24 hour cancelation policy. If you can not make a scheduled tour please call us 24 hours in advance or you be charged the full ticket price plus the credit card fee.
07
What can I / should I bring?
Bring a Jacket or clothing appropriate for weather 10- 20 degrees colder than it is on land. There is an ocean breeze that sometimes brings a chill. Suntan lotion, Camera, Binoculars, Bug spray (not often needed but when you do you will be glad you have it.) You may bring Breakfast/ Luch/ dinner or just snacks if you'd like.
08
Do you have binoculars available for passengers?
Yes we do provide binoculars but if you choose to use them you are resposible for them. If you loose or break a pair you will be charged 75$ per pair.
09
May we bring alcohol on board?
Yes. However drunk and disorderly behavior will not be tolerated. The captain has a right to terminate the tour at any time should he feel the need to, and no refund will be given.
10
Can we walk to your location?
No. While we are close to main street and certain hotels, we can not say it is good to walk here. No sidewalks run down to our Harbor. At times people get confused and show up to our office for departure. Please know all of our boats depart from Curtis Merritt Harbor.
